Meta-Escrow Payment Policy
This Payment Policy explains how payments, escrow deposits, releases, refunds, fees, and payment-related issues are handled when using Meta-Escrow.
Funding an Escrow Transaction
When a transaction is created, the buyer may be required to fund the agreed amount before the transaction can proceed. Available payment methods may vary depending on the transaction, currency, location, account status, and payment provider.
A transaction should only be considered funded after Meta-Escrow confirms that the required payment has been successfully received or verified.
Users should not make payments outside the payment instructions provided for their transaction.
How Escrowed Funds Are Handled
Funds deposited for an escrow transaction are held according to the conditions established for that transaction and the applicable Meta-Escrow terms.
Payment to the receiving party is not automatically completed simply because funds have been deposited. The applicable release conditions must first be satisfied.
This structure is designed to give both parties a controlled payment process while the underlying transaction is being completed.
Release of Funds
Escrowed funds may be released when the conditions agreed upon by the parties have been fulfilled and the required transaction confirmation has been provided.
Depending on the transaction, release may also occur following the expiration of an applicable inspection or confirmation period or as the result of an authorized resolution process.
Once a payment has been released, reversal may be limited or unavailable.
Transaction Fees
Fees may vary according to transaction value, payment method, currency, processing requirements, withdrawal method, or other applicable service conditions.
Where applicable, transaction charges will be displayed before the relevant payment or transaction is confirmed.
Additional charges imposed independently by banks, card issuers, payment processors, currency-conversion providers, blockchain networks, or other third parties may not be controlled by Meta-Escrow.
Payment Processing
Meta-Escrow may work with approved third-party payment providers to facilitate deposits, withdrawals, card payments, bank transfers, and other supported payment methods.
Payment processing may therefore be subject to additional verification, processing times, transaction limits, or terms imposed by the relevant financial institution or payment provider.
Payment Verification
For security and regulatory purposes, certain payments may require additional verification before funds can be credited, released, refunded, or withdrawn.
Meta-Escrow may temporarily place a transaction under review where unusual activity, conflicting payment information, suspected fraud, compliance concerns, or other security risks are detected.
Users may be asked to provide additional information or documentation necessary to complete the review.
Refunds and Cancelled Transactions
Whether funds can be returned following a cancellation depends on the transaction's status, the agreed escrow conditions, and whether funds have already been released.
Where a refund is approved, funds will generally be returned using an available and appropriate payment method. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution involved.
Applicable processing or third-party charges may not always be refundable.
Disputed Transactions
If the parties disagree about whether the transaction conditions have been fulfilled, the funds may remain in escrow while the matter is reviewed or handled according to the applicable dispute-resolution process.
Users should retain relevant transaction records, agreements, delivery evidence, communications, and other documentation that may help establish what occurred.
Withdrawals
Eligible funds may be withdrawn using the methods available to the user's account.
Withdrawal availability, processing times, limits, fees, and verification requirements may vary by payment method, currency, account status, and jurisdiction.
Meta-Escrow may delay a withdrawal where additional security or compliance verification is reasonably required.
Failed, Reversed or Charged-Back Payments
A payment may fail or be reversed because of insufficient funds, incorrect payment information, bank restrictions, payment-provider decisions, chargebacks, suspected fraud, or other circumstances outside Meta-Escrow's direct control.
Where a deposited payment is subsequently reversed or disputed, Meta-Escrow may restrict the associated transaction or account while the issue is investigated.
Currency and Conversion
Where transactions involve different currencies, currency conversion may be required.
Exchange rates and conversion charges may be determined by the payment provider, financial institution, or conversion service responsible for processing the transaction. The final amount received may therefore differ from the original amount because of exchange-rate movements or applicable conversion fees.
Keep Payments Inside Meta-Escrow
For your protection, payments associated with an escrow transaction should be completed only through the authorized payment instructions presented by Meta-Escrow.
Requests to send money directly to another party, use an unrelated payment account, or bypass the established escrow process should be treated with caution.
Payments completed outside Meta-Escrow's authorized transaction flow may not receive the protections available through the escrow process.
Changes to This Payment Policy
Meta-Escrow may update this Payment Policy as its services, payment infrastructure, supported payment methods, or regulatory obligations evolve.
Any revised policy will be published on the platform and will take effect in accordance with the stated effective date.
